Aspects of Planning

There are two main aspects to the practice of town planning: forward planning and development control.
Forward planning is the process of goal-setting: identifying the best possible use for each part of the country and developing guidelines toward the future vision. It includes:

  • Planning Scheme Preparation
  • Advisory Plan Preparation
  • Scheme Amendment (including Rezoning)

Development control is the process of implementing planning regulations on current development: considering proposed developments against the objective of the area to decide whether each is appropriate. It includes:

  • Subdivision Assessment
  • Development Assessment
  • Master Planning
