Naqara Advisory Plan

The Naqara Advisory Plan includes policies and recommendation and valuable ADVISORY planning instrument for the DTCP to assist in determining development patterns within the study area as it experience urban development pressure. It is envisaged that Naqara Advisory Area would develop into a Town status in a not to distant future hence the Advisory plan could be used as a precursor for the preparation of a Town Planning Scheme.

The Department of Town Country Planning recognized the significant and strategic location of Naqara in its place in Taveuni and also taking into consideration the development trends in Taveuni , intends to prepare a Local Area Advisory Plan for Naqara .The proposed plan coincides with the Government policy to shift development focus towards the North (Look North Policy ,2009).

The Naqara Local Area Advisory Plan which consists of zoning plans, policy statements and recommendations is solely to guide development and to ensure that future physical development remain economically and environmentally sustainable , in light of the areas where development has potential and significance.

The resulting Local Area Advisory Plan will guide the local authority and the Department in future decisions about development and land management in the area.
